Chief of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine - Phoenix Children's

Phoenix Children's is in search of a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative Pediatric Physiatrist to take on the role of Chief of the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Barrow Neurological Institute.

This pivotal leadership position is tasked with steering the clinical, educational, and research endeavors within the division.

The Chief will provide specialized medical care to pediatric patients facing neuromuscular disorders, congenital anomalies, and trauma-related injuries, while also leading a dedicated team of healthcare professionals and working closely with various departments to ensure optimal patient care.


Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership:

Deliver expert clinical services to pediatric patients with physical disabilities, neuromuscular conditions, congenital issues, and injuries.

Formulate and execute individualized treatment strategies that incorporate medical interventions, therapies, and rehabilitation methodologies.

Engage in collaboration with other specialists, including pediatricians, orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, and therapists, to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to patient management.


Administrative and Leadership:

Oversee the Pediatric PM&R division, managing daily operations, resource distribution, growth strategies, and quality enhancement initiatives.

Recruit, mentor, and lead a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including physicians, therapists, nurses, and support personnel.

Administer the division's budget, ensuring resource efficiency and alignment with financial objectives.


Education and Training:

Provide educational leadership by designing and implementing training programs for medical students, residents, and fellows specializing in Pediatric PM&R.

Encourage a culture of ongoing learning and professional growth within the division.


Research and Innovation:

Participate in clinical research and contribute to the advancement of Pediatric PM&R through scholarly publications, presentations, and involvement in relevant conferences.

Collaborate with research teams to explore opportunities for enhancing treatment outcomes, patient experiences, and innovative therapeutic approaches.


Collaboration and Networking:

Work in partnership with other departments, healthcare institutions, and community organizations to improve patient care, referral processes, and community outreach.

Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to promote partnerships and support the division's objectives.


Quality Improvement and Patient Safety:

Develop and monitor quality metrics to guarantee the provision of safe, effective, and patient-centered care.

Implement evidence-based practices and protocols to improve patient outcomes and safety.


Qualifications:

Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) with board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, ideally with a focus on Pediatric PM&R.

Eligibility for medical licensure in the relevant jurisdiction.

Demonstrated clinical proficiency in Pediatric PM&R, with a strong track record of patient care and outcomes.

Proven leadership experience, preferably in a clinical or academic environment.

Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.

Strong dedication to education, research, and the advancement of the field.

Phoenix Children's operates a CARF accredited inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, the only pediatric rehabilitation unit in Arizona, and offers a comprehensive range of pediatric specialty services.
