  • Drafting and interpreting radiation control plans and requirements documentation.
  • Simulating and validating the performance of digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuits while considering radiation effects.
  • Recommending and simulating strategies for radiation-tolerant circuit designs.
  • Analyzing the implications of space radiation on on-orbit upset rates, testing requirements, radiation transport, and failure analysis.
  • Producing comprehensive documentation for part-level, circuit-level, and system-level radiation effects analyses.
  • Creating technical memos that inform company decisions based on in-depth knowledge of radiation effects.
  • Developing strategic initiatives and roadmaps concerning radiation effects testing and research.
  • Planning and overseeing the execution of radiation effects testing (TID, DDD, SEE).
  • Aligning the team's radiation testing and analysis efforts with program budget and timeline constraints.
  • Collaborating with various disciplines, clients, industry experts, and publications to maintain expertise in emerging technologies and new radiation effects challenges.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Nuclear Science, or a related field, accompanied by over 10 years of proven experience in the design, analysis, and/or testing of radiation effects on electronics and materials.
  • Strong familiarity with both basic and complex discrete and integrated circuits (transistors, logic, memories, microcontrollers, FPGAs, etc.).
  • Demonstrated expertise in understanding the effects of radiation on electronic systems.
  • Experience utilizing commercial or automotive components in radiation environments.
  • Proficiency in electrical circuit analysis and implementing radiation effects mitigations.

  • Proven track record of leading technical projects from conception to completion.
  • Experience in producing detailed program deliverables (control plans, test plans/reports, design reviews, system-level analyses, etc.).
  • Familiarity with radiation transport tools (e.g., MCNP, NOVICE, FASTRAD, GEANT4).
  • Strong understanding and application of fundamental statistical methods.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment for radiation effects testing (power supplies, data acquisition systems, electronic loads, SMUs, etc.).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience presenting radiation requirements, results, and plans during program design reviews.
  • Ability to work independently on all aspects of radiation effects on electronics.
  • Capacity to build trust, maintain positive professional relationships across teams, and contribute to an inclusive culture.

  • Domestic travel may be required; foreign travel is a possibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a relevant engineering or technical field with over 12 years of direct experience in radiation design, analysis, and testing of avionics hardware for operation in radiation environments.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, platforms, and protocols such as Python, C, SVN, Gitlab, SQL, I2C, SPI.
  • Familiarity with the radiation-tolerant and radiation-hardened offerings from space electronics manufacturers.
