Position Summary:
This entry-level role as an Accounting Analyst involves performing tasks in alignment with company protocols and generally accepted accounting practices. The incumbent will work under close supervision, receiving detailed instructions regarding tasks and expected outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Collect, organize, and evaluate actual and budgetary financial data related to corporate operations from diverse sources, compiling this information for accounting, financial reporting, or further analysis.
2. Prepare journal entries and financial calculations that necessitate a fundamental understanding of accounting principles and their application.
3. Generate financial reports, calculations, and analyses for senior management, various departments, internal and external auditors, and regulatory agencies.
4. Provide financial insights to other departments and analyze expenses, capital, and overhead costs for accuracy and appropriateness, requiring diligence and creativity.
5. Develop a foundational understanding of the Corporate Uniform Systems of Accounts, FMIS, generally accepted accounting principles, and utility-specific accounting policies and procedures.
6. Complete additional tasks as assigned, adhering to a predetermined schedule of desired outcomes.


Qualifications:


Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.

Skills and Experience:
Proficiency in Excel and a strong aptitude for accounting information systems are essential. A working knowledge of accounting principles and their applications is necessary.

Preferred Attributes:
Effective interpersonal skills for communicating financial information clearly, both verbally and in writing, to various stakeholders. Familiarity with PC and mainframe applications is advantageous. Current knowledge of accounting regulations, including U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP), international accounting standards (IFRS or IAS), tax obligations, and reporting requirements is preferred.


Work Environment:
This position is based in a standard office setting.

Physical Requirements:
The role primarily involves sitting, with options for standing and walking as needed.
