Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Junior Financial Accountant will be responsible for preparing and maintaining financial documentation to monitor the organization's assets, liabilities, income and expenses, tax obligations, and other related financial activities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Conducts general and cost accounting tasks along with other related responsibilities for the organization.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
  • Maintains the integrity of the general ledger.
  • Codes invoices, establishes new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes monthly financial records.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial records; oversees accounts receivable collections.
  • Ensures timely payment of invoices related to accounts payable and verifies charges to the correct accounts.
  • Assists external auditors by providing necessary account information and documentation for annual audits.
  • Collaborates with software vendors to ensure accounting software systems are maintained; suggests updates to improve functionality.
  • Oversees the purchasing and invoicing processes.
  • Stays informed about accepted accounting practices and procedures.
  • Manages and reconciles company credit card transactions.
  • Facilitates training sessions for management staff on relevant topics.
  • Develops and nurtures strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Supervises daily accounting operations for hospitality venues, including managing house accounts, daily reporting, invoice processing, and cash reconciliation.
  • Conducts cash flow analyses and generates weekly cash management reports to keep management informed.
  • Calculates and monitors key performance indicators to assess business performance.
  • Reports key performance indicators to leadership on a monthly basis.
  • Undertakes additional projects or assignments as required.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with general financial accounting and cost accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of Yardi software is preferred.
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and the ability to apply them.
  • Proficient in preparing tax reports accurately.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, along with accounting software.
