POSITION SUMMARY


The Junior Financial Accountant will be responsible for preparing and maintaining financial documentation to monitor the organization's assets, liabilities, income and expenses, tax obligations, and other related financial activities.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Conducts general and cost accounting along with other related responsibilities for the organization.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
  • Maintains the general ledger accurately.
  • Codes invoices, establishes new accounts, reconciles accounts, and finalizes monthly financial records.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; oversees accounts receivable collections.
  • Ensures timely payment of invoices related to accounts payable and verifies charges to the correct accounts.
  • Assists external auditors by providing necessary account information and documentation for the annual audit.
  • Collaborates with software vendors to ensure the accounting software systems are maintained; suggests updates to improve the software.
  • Oversees the purchasing and invoicing process.
  • Maintains current knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Manages and reconciles company credit card transactions.
  • Facilitates regular training sessions for management staff.
  • Develops and nurtures strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Supervises daily accounting operations for hotels and restaurants, including managing house accounts, daily reporting, invoice processing, and cash reconciliation.
  • Conducts cash flow analysis and generates weekly cash management reports to keep ownership and management informed.
  • Calculates and monitors key performance indicators to assess business performance.
  • Reports key performance indicators to leadership on a monthly basis.
Additional projects or assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with Yardi software is preferred.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Capability to accurately prepare tax reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, as well as accounting software.
