Crown's Food Division is the world's leading manufacturer of food cans. Our comprehensive range of food packaging serves various markets, including fruit, vegetables, dairy, fish, meat, ready meals, pet food, infant milk powder, and other dry food products. We offer a diverse selection of food cans, from round to bowl-shaped cans, and are committed to excellence.

Our Plant 84 is located in Owatonna, Minnesota.

Job Overview

The Plant Accountant is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, including month-end processes, preparing financial reports, reconciliations, payroll, sales commissions, and accounts payable. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and requires a strong understanding of accounting concepts and GAAP.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries and account documentation.
  • Prepare General Ledger Account and Bank Reconciliation.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports to summarize the company's financial position, including month-end reporting, 8th day reporting, gainshare analysis, and site communication meeting information.
  • Maintain the Accounting Policy database.
  • Identify control gaps, develop, and implement control procedures to resolve control deficiencies.
  • Assist in preparation for internal and external audits.
  • Develop financial analysis and cost accounting skills.
  • Responsible for execution and coordination of physical inventory.
  • Performance management for direct reports.
  • Oversee payroll and AP functions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts and GAAP.
  • Proven track record of working in a team environment with various departments.
  • Experience working with an ERP system.
  • Three years of plant manufacturing experience.
