Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of comprehensive designs for both small and large electrical and instrumentation engineering projects, utilizing theoretical knowledge and practical design methodologies under general supervision.

Primary duties include but are not limited to:

  • Understanding and applying departmental design and drafting standards.
  • Familiarity with project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.
  • Promptly recognizing and communicating scope and design changes.
  • Providing on-site assistance during project startup.
  • Generating preliminary designs and material take-offs suitable for project estimates.
  • Creating detailed design calculations and sketches for construction materials.
  • Ensuring calculations are organized for efficient review and use by drafting/design teams.
  • Producing designs that optimize construction materials while meeting client expectations.
  • Reviewing calculations from other engineers for accuracy and compliance with codes and specifications.
  • Assisting the drafting team in resolving layout and detailing challenges.
  • Collaborating with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure seamless information flow.
  • Advising senior engineers on identified design or scope changes.
  • Supporting the assembly of scopes, drawings, and specifications for procurement inquiries.
  • Reviewing vendor and discipline drawings for electrical/instrumentation input.
  • Developing construction specifications and reviewing fabrication drawings for compliance.
  • Conducting fieldwork to gather data and provide construction support.
  • Offering technical guidance to junior drafting and engineering staff.
  • Applying advanced engineering techniques to complex design challenges.
  • Producing installation details, motor control center layouts, and other necessary documentation.
  • Creating conceptual layouts and cost studies to determine efficient engineering solutions.
  • Developing small work-sharing packages for interoffice support.

Qualifications:

Education:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is required.

Registration:
Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency in the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and familiarity with construction materials and equipment specifications is essential. Candidates should possess the ability to perform various calculations, including lighting level, voltage drop, and conduit fill. Familiarity with instrumentation standards and the ability to develop equipment specifications is also required.

Technical Skills:
Knowledge of engineering design and CAD drafting standards, along with proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Microstation) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is necessary. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively in virtual teams.

Physical Requirements:
The role requires the ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
