Community Support Specialist

This position plays a crucial role in further developing the Foundational Community Supports (FCS) program at the YMCA of Greater Seattle. The successful candidate will assist program leadership in training, leading, and expanding the FCS program, providing program coordination, operational support, and leading staff trainings.
The FCS program supports low-income youth and young adults who have experienced foster care, homelessness, disconnection from school, juvenile justice, and other systems in developing the skills to live independently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in youth development, program coordination, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide program coordination and information to other Y Social Impact Center staff as needed.
- Coach staff in program areas to ensure the highest level of service.
- Work with Program Director and other internal teams to further develop the FCS program.
- Complete Contract Fidelity Reviewer training to ensure internal program compliance and participate in external audits.
- Provide specialized services to young adults in education, employment, housing, technology, or other designated fields.
- Build strong relationships with Y program participants to effectively provide quality services.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum three years of experience working with teens or young adults in foster care, group care, housing, education, juvenile justice, anti-poverty, vocational support, mental health, chemical dependency, and/or homelessness fields.
- Ability to teach effective independence skills for various learning styles and plan supportive activities.
- Comfortable leading and presenting training sessions to other teams online or in person.
- Strong youth engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including coaching and giving/receiving feedback.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
