Ophthalmic Technician 1

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Spectrum Vision Partners. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye disorders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and ancillary patient testing, including far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception
  • Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes and collect and process specimens for testing
  • Triage emergency cases appropriately into physicians' schedule and maintain patient flow
  • Prepare patient and procedure room and assist ophthalmologist with procedures as needed
  • Perform first-level maintenance on equipment and notify the office manager of any equipment malfunctions
  • Utilize infection control techniques and universal precautions, and maintain confidentiality at all times


Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Knowledge of ocular pharmacology, including anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, mydriatics, and cycloplegics (a plus)
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds and stand for long periods
