Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Winter Park Ophthalmology. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians in delivering top-notch ophthalmic services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for ophthalmology examinations by dilating pupils, checking visual acuity, and recording medical history.
  • Perform routine vision screening examinations, administer eye medications, and clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments.
  • Assist physicians during minor surgical and laser procedures, ensuring a safe and sterile environment.
  • Verify patient information, accurately record medical records, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Counsel patients on eye care, provide instructions on medication use, and answer questions about surgery and specialty imaging.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; minimum of one year of experience in ophthalmology preferred.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and ability to maintain accurate records.
Work Environment

This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain confidentiality, work effectively in a team setting, and provide exceptional patient care.

Physical Demands: This position requires talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Sedentary work is required, with occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Visual requirements include close visual acuity to perform tasks such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
