Role Summary:

As an Ophthalmic Technician Assistant, you will be integral in supporting our physicians and enhancing patient experiences. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring that our patients receive the highest standard of care throughout their visit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and assist patients upon arrival.
  • Support the physician during examinations and minor procedures.
  • Conduct vision and ocular assessments, providing clear explanations of procedures to patients.
  • Accurately document examination details and findings in the electronic health record.
  • Ensure patients comprehend all provided instructions.
  • Mentor and train junior technicians.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas and ophthalmic equipment.
  • Report any equipment issues promptly.
  • Conduct ancillary testing and accurately record results.
  • Administer medications in accordance with established protocols.
  • Manage inventory and assist with the maintenance of equipment.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Proficient customer service skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in an ophthalmic setting or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) is preferred or commitment to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) is required or must be obtained shortly after hiring.

Work Schedule:

  • Standard hours are Monday to Thursday from 8 AM to 4 PM and Friday from 7 AM to 3 PM.
