The Ophthalmic Technician (Certified or Non-Certified) plays a vital role in the delivery of high-quality eye care services at G Brock Magruder MD PA. This position requires a skilled and detail-oriented individual to assist physicians in providing comprehensive eye care to patients.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for ophthalmology examinations by dilating pupils, checking visual acuity, and communicating results to attending physicians.
- Accurately record patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system, including medical history, test results, and treatment plans.
- Perform routine vision screening examinations, including refraction, visual field testing, and pachymetry.
- Administer eye medications and assist physicians during minor surgical and laser procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized examination room, including restocking supplies and disposing of biohazardous materials.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, responding to their needs and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- High School diploma or equivalent required; minimum of one year of experience in ophthalmology preferred.
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record systems.
This position requires a high level of attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The Ophthalmic Technician will be required to stand for long periods, walk, and lift up to 10 pounds. The work environment is typical of a medical office, with minimal exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
