Job Summary:

The Senior Ophthalmic Technician will be responsible for performing a range of administrative and clinical duties, including assisting with minor surgical procedures, documenting exam details, and ensuring patient understanding of all instructions. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist physicians with patient care and minor procedures
  • Perform vision and ocular tests, explaining procedures to patients
  • Document exam details and physician findings in the electronic chart
  • Ensure patient understanding of all instructions
  • Precept and train fellow technicians
  • Prepare, maintain, and clean treatment rooms and ophthalmic instruments
  • Report equipment malfunctions
  • Perform ancillary testing and document results
  • Administer medications according to compliance standards
  • Maintain inventory and assist with equipment upkeep
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or one (1) year of specialized ophthalmic experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification preferred or enrolled within twelve (12) months of hire and completion within two (2) years of hire
  • Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) required or completion within 45 days of hire
