Role Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing the upkeep and repair of various machinery and equipment, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machinery. This role involves leading the maintenance team to ensure all equipment operates efficiently and safely, while also managing maintenance operations to enhance productivity and reduce downtime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, repair, and preventive upkeep of production machinery, including advanced systems such as lasers, plasma tables, and machining centers.
  • Ensure all machinery is in optimal condition and ready for production.
  • Oversee troubleshooting of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Maintain equipment and fixtures to minimize operational interruptions.
  • Diagnose complex repair issues and supervise the repair or replacement of faulty components.
  • Manage the operation of cutting tools and equipment for metal fabrication and repairs.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of facility utilities and support systems, including air, water, steam, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Promote and enforce safety standards, ensuring all team members understand machine operations and safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Oversee routine cleaning of equipment and general housekeeping in the maintenance area.
  • Manage the collection and disposal of waste generated on-site.
  • Develop and manage the maintenance budget effectively.
  • Track and report on maintenance performance metrics and key indicators.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless production operations.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
  • A minimum of five years of experience in maintenance roles.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Proficient in using both manual and powered hand tools.
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks, including plumbing, painting, and machine assembly.
  • Expertise in welding and gas cutting, along with troubleshooting machine controls.
  • Ability to develop and implement maintenance procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with PLC and computer controls is preferred.
  • Physical capability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to be on call for all shifts.
Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or three to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

This position requires regular physical activity, including standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks. Candidates must be able to identify colors and make visual distinctions, as well as remember and follow verbal and written instructions.

Work Environment

The work environment may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and noise. Proper safety equipment is required to ensure a safe working atmosphere.
