The Finance Department is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Accounting Technician. This position is crucial in maintaining the financial integrity of our growing city, where your skills will contribute significantly to our ongoing development and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional support and service to clients, ensuring accurate financial information is prepared and maintained.
  • Perform reconciliations and analyses of complex financial data, ensuring compliance with established accounting standards.
  • Manage and post financial information to citywide financial systems, while independently executing special projects and conducting technical research.
  • Interpret and enforce taxation and licensing regulations, auditing business revenues and ensuring compliance.
  • Support accounting staff by maintaining accurate records and providing logistical assistance.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee comprehensive accounting functions, preparing and verifying all related financial records and reports.
  • Compile data for annual reports and ensure accuracy in recording balances, revenues, and expenditures.
  • Analyze financial data and prepare necessary reports, ensuring adherence to municipal codes and regulations.
  • Assist in billing and receipting processes, ensuring proper classification of records and compliance with accounting procedures.
  • Provide guidance to other accounting staff on detailed procedures and account management.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of vocational courses in accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in bookkeeping or accounting support, preferably in a public sector environment.
  • Proficiency in computerized accounting systems and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to type and perform ten-key functions accurately.

Working Environment:

This role is primarily office-based, requiring extensive use of computer systems. The environment is characterized by a normal range of noise and distractions typical of an office setting.
