Position Summary
PeaceHealth is in search of a Support Specialist for Patient Care Team - Observation Unit for a Full Time, 0.90 FTE, Day position. The compensation range for this role at PeaceHealth is $32.04. The initial salary is influenced by various factors, including education, experience, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
This role is situated in a dynamic environment with a collaborative team focused on assessing patients for discharge or inpatient admission. PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center is a 253-bed facility offering a Level II Trauma Center along with comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute assigned duties within the framework of a Certified Nursing Assistant, adhering to PeaceHealth and general nursing standards.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring customer needs are met while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
- Notify relevant care team members of significant changes in patient conditions.
- Handle clerical responsibilities within the unit, including accurate order transcription, coordinating patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, as well as managing patient registration and insurance authorizations.
- Oversee the monitoring, maintenance, and ordering of unit supplies.
- Demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care tailored to the age of the patients served, showcasing knowledge of developmental principles.
- Required: Certified Nurse Assistant - Washington (Note: Employees hired prior to October 1, 1997 may qualify with a Registered Nursing Assistant designation).
- Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support certification.
Lifting Requirements
- Patient handling limited to 35 lbs. without assistive devices.
- Frequent use of fine motor skills for medical equipment handling.
- Push/Pull: Regularly up to 45 lbs. force (e.g., medical carts).
- Ability to perform hands-on CPR for at least 20 minutes.
- Mobility within the area with frequent sitting and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
- Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and kneeling.
- Exposure to biohazards, bodily fluids, and airborne particles.
- Ability to work effectively in a noisy environment.
- Vision and hearing must be within normal limits (corrective devices permitted).
- Effective communication skills for accurate information exchange.
