About The Role

The Regional Trainer at Weldon Barber is a full-time hybrid position, involving two days of hands-on barbering and three days dedicated to training and educating barbers within the assigned region. This role is pivotal in enhancing the knowledge and skills of our barbers in the Western Washington locations, contributing to their success while exemplifying high-level barbering and customer service.

The Trainer will engage in all facets of barbering skills, from fades to shaves, and oversee every stage of a barber's journey at Weldon, from conducting technical interviews to arranging and delivering ongoing education.

The ideal candidate will exhibit a passion for providing superior men's grooming and luxury customer service, while maintaining best-in-class skills and techniques.

This individual will possess outstanding communication abilities, characterized by diplomacy, tact, exceptional listening skills, analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and a steadfast commitment to excellence. They will also demonstrate the ability to negotiate effectively with all levels of staff to fulfill the mission and objectives of Weldon Barber.

Position Responsibilities
  • Deliver hands-on instruction in all aspects of barbering, including haircutting techniques, shaving, styling, and client consultation.
  • Assess barber candidates through technical interviews and develop training plans to ensure all new hires are equipped to deliver Weldon services at the expected luxury standard.
  • Continuously evaluate barber skills and techniques throughout their tenure, identifying areas for improvement and training needs.
  • Foster a positive and professional learning environment, nurturing a passion for the barbering craft.
  • Stay updated with the latest barbering trends and techniques through ongoing education.
  • Maintain positive relationships with external schools, agencies, and educators.
  • Support HQ Leadership and participate in scheduled visits and classes at local cosmetology and barber schools/programs as needed.
  • Coordinate ongoing development and education opportunities quarterly, networking with industry peers and guest educators as necessary.
  • Model, lead, and coach to ensure consistent excellence in delivering an elevated customer experience.
  • Become a subject-matter expert in booking software, messenger AI, and point-of-sale systems, ensuring best practices are taught and utilized in the shops.
  • Ensure safe and compliant work environments throughout the area of responsibility, adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations as well as industry licensure requirements.
  • Participate in annual and biannual events.
  • Assist in developing best practices across all job functions.
Position Requirements
  • Valid Barber, Cosmetology, or Hair Design license in Washington state.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a licensed Barber or Cosmetologist.
  • Experience in a Trainer, Educator, or Instructor role.
  • Experience in managing personnel, including hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and terminations.
  • Ability to cultivate a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Strong work ethic, passion for the barbering industry, and commitment to student success.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong time management abilities to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Flexibility to quickly assess, prioritize, and adapt to emergent situations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with tact and diplomacy.
  • Capacity to work independently.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience managing confidential and sensitive information.
  • Flexibility to work a schedule that meets business needs.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five or more years of experience as a licensed Barber or Cosmetologist.
  • Two or more years of experience in a Training or Educator role within the Barber or Salon industry.
  • Experience in multi-unit training, educating, and/or management within the Barber or Salon industry.
Travel Requirements

This position necessitates frequent travel, exceeding 90% within the designated region. A personal vehicle and the ability to travel swiftly to shops in the assigned area are essential.

Compensation

The Regional Trainer for Western Washington is a full-time hybrid role (commissioned and hourly wage). Hourly wages for training hours range from $30 to $35, with commission rates between 36% and 44%. Annual compensation ranges from $46,176 to $99,008, plus tips, which can average over 40% of service revenue for this position. Pay is determined by various factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, educational qualifications, professional certifications, and experience level.
