Position Overview
The Engineering Technician role is crucial in providing specialized support for engineering tasks. The selected candidate will engage in intricate and distinctive engineering support activities, focusing on the assembly and integration of both military and commercial systems, including the modification of military platforms.
Key Responsibilities
The Engineering Technician will undertake various assignments that may not be fully standardized, adapting existing procedures or equipment as necessary. Responsibilities include:
- Constructing or disassembling components and subunits related to undersea sensors, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Following detailed layouts, procedures, and scientific diagrams to assemble, disassemble, and package sensor components effectively.
- Conducting electrical and mechanical tests, making minor adjustments to test setups, and utilizing standard test equipment to gather and record data.
- Extracting and organizing engineering data from various sources, identifying discrepancies, and presenting findings in a clear manner.
- Assisting in design modifications by compiling relevant data on specifications and materials, and addressing operational failures through thorough analysis.
Qualifications
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with at least five years of relevant experience. Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience supporting naval warfare centers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues and external contacts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be capable of lifting 15 to 25 pounds and be able to stand and walk for extended periods. The role may require twisting, bending, and squatting periodically.
Security Clearance
Applicants must be eligible to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level, with preference given to those who already possess an active clearance. US Citizenship is a requirement for clearance eligibility.
