We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with expertise in discrete components to contribute to Strategic Microelectronics at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engineering support for discrete components to the technology team, including the preparation of technical documentation.
- Provide guidance to military programs and designers regarding component selection.
- Diagnose issues related to discrete components and propose effective solutions.
- Comprehend electrical testing methodologies, radiation effects, and failure analysis techniques.
- Collaborate with program offices, prime contractors, designers, parts manufacturers, testing laboratories, and other governmental bodies.
- Draft and evaluate test plan documentation.
- Ensure comprehensive life-cycle support for strategic systems.
- Engage in Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) audits, attend Joint Electronic Devices Engineering Council (JEDEC) meetings, and review Military Performance Specifications and Test Methods.
- Willingness to travel 25-50% of the time.
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline, preferably Electrical Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent.
- Experience in Component or Systems Engineering with an emphasis on quality and reliability standards of IEEE components.
- Familiarity with or eagerness to learn best design practices for IEEE components.
- Basic knowledge of military industry standards (MIL-STD).
- Ability to differentiate standards based on component types and analyze their variances.
- Strong communication skills to convey ideas to clients, program offices, colleagues, and contractors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel with a capacity to master advanced functions.
- Capability to compose technical reports.
- Understanding of fundamental electrical testing for IEEE components.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship is necessary for a Secret Clearance).
- Component Engineer with a focus on quality and reliability standards for IEEE components, particularly Integrated Circuits (ICs).
- Knowledge of best design practices for IEEE components, specifically ICs, including manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of distinctions among military, industry, commercial, and automotive standards.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel: formula integration, macros, etc.
- Solid grasp of electrical testing for IEEE components with the ability to conduct basic benchtop testing.
- Possession of an active Secret Clearance.
