About the Role

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is seeking a highly skilled Patient Services Coordinator II to join our Home Base team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and service to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a Welcoming Experience: Greet patients with a friendly and caring attitude, ensuring a positive first impression of our practice.
  • Manage Patient Communications: Effectively manage incoming communications from patients and families, investigating and documenting their needs, concerns, and expectations.
  • Support Patient Check-In: Assist patients with insurance, billing, and medical administrative questions, distributing and documenting HIPAA information, and verifying patient identity.
  • Manage Scheduling and Records: Maintain appointment scheduling for patients, manage paper medical records, and document receipt of outside records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Provide Administrative Support: Assist clinicians and managers in emergent situations, work collaboratively with MGH Police & Security representatives, and engage with care teams to support patient care services.
  • Perform Other Related Tasks: Facilitate the flow of patients through the practice, enhance the quality of service to patients, and work on special projects as requested by the Practice Manager.
Requirements
  • High Degree of Initiative and Independent Judgment: Demonstrate a high degree of initiative and independent judgment in managing patient communications and providing administrative support.
  • Excellent Time Management and Prioritization Skills: Effectively manage time and prioritize tasks to meet the demands and changing needs of the practice.
  • Strong Computer Skills: Utilize computerized scheduling, billing, prescription ordering, and electronic medical record systems, with Epic experience preferred.
  • Excellent Customer Service and Communication Skills: Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, working effectively and courteously with patients, staff, and providers.
  • Ability to Function as a Member of a Team: Work collaboratively with the team, sharing knowledge and skills to provide exceptional patient care and service.
  • Ability to Respond Patiently and Perform in Stressful Situations: Respond patiently and perform in stressful situations, handling difficult calls and maintaining confidentiality and privacy consistent with HIPAA guidelines.
Education and Experience

2+ years of experience in a highly clinically customer service-focused role, with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Working Conditions

Office/Ambulatory Care Setting, with some work performed remotely. Primary Location: MA-Charlestown-MGH OCC.
