Heavy Vehicle Operator

Job Overview:
- Responsible for operating a heavy-duty truck or tractor-trailer with a minimum capacity of 26,000 pounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts thorough inspections of vehicles to ensure that all mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is functioning properly.
- Positions trucks for loading or unloading, following the guidance of the loading crew.
- Gathers delivery instructions, confirms routes, and adheres to all regulations.
- Keeps accurate logs of working hours and vehicle conditions.
- Reports any vehicle issues, accidents, infractions, or damages.
- Secures cargo for transportation using the appropriate equipment.
- Drives to weigh stations to document vehicle weights and comply with regulations.
- Transports and delivers various products, livestock, or materials.
- Obtains necessary receipts or signatures for delivered items.
- Inspects and inventories goods prior to transport.
- Maintains communication with bases, supervisors, and fellow drivers.
- Performs basic maintenance tasks on vehicles.
- Assesses trailer conditions post-unloading.
- Couples or uncouples trailers as required.
- Verifies load-related documentation for accuracy.
- Utilizes maps to determine the best routes for vehicles.
- Handles loading and unloading of trucks, operating necessary loading equipment.
- Cleans debris from loaded trailers.
Qualifications:
- Education: Completion of a recognized truck driving program.
- Experience: 2-3 years of professional driving experience.
- Licenses/Certifications: Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License.
