Job Summary

The Motor Vehicle Clerk I plays a vital role in facilitating the registration process for motor vehicles. This position involves direct interaction with the public, managing various payment methods including cash, checks, and credit cards. Additional responsibilities may include organizing and labeling license plates, as well as assisting visitors at the entrance.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide assistance to the public regarding motor vehicle registration renewals and manage the queuing system at the entrance.
- Perform data entry tasks related to motor vehicle registration renewals.
- Collect registration fees and issue the appropriate license plates and/or stickers.
- Maintain an accurate cash drawer, generate cash drawer reports, and complete daily financial reconciliations.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

- Knowledge of motor vehicle registration processes and customer service principles.
- Experience in data entry and handling monetary transactions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and operate mechanical or electrical equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent with at least 6 months of experience in clerical work involving significant public interaction; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
