Residential Construction Cost Estimator

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities for Residential Construction Cost Estimator:
  • Examine construction documents, blueprints, and project specifications to fully understand project requirements.
  • Determine the quantity of materials necessary for new home construction and renovations.
  • Prepare cost estimates for materials and labor based on current market trends.
  • Proactively engage with team members and management to ensure comprehensive estimates.
  • Collaborate with clients and management to gather and organize data for precise and detailed estimates.
  • Initiate negotiations and agreements with subcontractors to optimize value, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Oversee bids from vendors and suppliers.
  • Regularly compare actual material usage against estimates upon project completion to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist in obtaining necessary project permits.
  • Support the production team in building client relationships while facilitating discussions regarding proposals and selections.
  • Meet with clients to outline expectations and guide them through the design and selection process in collaboration with the designer.
  • Help develop internal and client-facing reports, including project budgets, cost analyses, and status updates.
  • Assist with the invoicing process for suppliers.

Qualifications for Residential Construction Cost Estimator

Basic Qualifications:
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and technical documents.
  • Experienced in budgeting and negotiation.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Capable of tracking and managing selections across multiple projects.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail.
  • Works effectively as part of a team.
  • Adept at generating reports based on cost data.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in residential cost estimation preferred.
  • Relevant experience in costing and analysis is advantageous.
  • Experience in new home and residential construction is essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Willingness to learn and utilize company-specific software.

Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday

License/Certification
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Driver's License (Required)
