Join Magna Powertrain as a Powertrain Test Engineering Student and contribute to the development of world-class powertrain systems. As a member of our Powertrain Testing group, you will assist with projects on all levels throughout the co-op/internship program.

Job Summary

As a Powertrain Test Engineering Student, you will work with the Powertrain Testing group to assist with projects on all different levels throughout the co-op/internship program. Your responsibilities will include supporting mechanical system test engineers with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, cost, and quality, under the supervision of an engineer (mentor).

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the mechanical system test engineers with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, cost, and quality, under the supervision of an engineer (mentor).
  • Assist and/or lead with development of Design Validation Plans (DVPs) for new products and product changes based on product application requirements with oversight by the mechanical system test engineers.
  • Assist and/or lead with the writing and reviewing of test procedures and test reports with oversight by mechanical system test engineers.
  • Assist with the plan and execution of DVPs utilizing resources from supporting internal engineering groups such as Reliability/Durability, Test Bench Services, Noise/Vibration/Harshness, Vehicle Verification, and Software & HiL Test.
  • Provide written and verbal communication of testing status and results to internal and external customers.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Enrolled in an engineering program with an accredited school. Graduate students must be within 12 months post-graduation to be considered.
  • Understand the basics of engineering theory and principles of design.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a hands-on technical environment.
  • Working knowledge in computer-based software (Matlab, VBA, MS office, etc.).
  • Strong organizational/communication skills.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
Work Environment

The Powertrain Testing group is responsible for overall product Design Validation Plan (DVP) process from definition, quoting, planning, and executing of product validation programs through various development phases. Plan and execute tests (generating test procedures, pre-test requirement completion, performing test, test data review). Prepare and report test results (test reports) and support program team/customer with DVP and results to internal and external customers.
