About the Permian Basin

Covering an area comparable to Kansas, the Permian Basin, located in West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico, is the most productive oil and gas region in the United States and a key driver of the nation's energy growth. It accounts for approximately 40% of the country's oil and 15% of its gas production, significantly contributing to the U.S. becoming a leading energy exporter.

As a vital asset for ExxonMobil, the Permian Basin represented about 40% of the Corporation's net oil and gas output in the U.S. in 2021, with promising growth prospects. Production exceeded 550,000 barrels per day in 2022 and is projected to surpass 800,000 barrels per day in the coming years. Many of these resources are transported to ExxonMobil's facilities along the Gulf of Mexico, where they are converted into high-value products such as jet fuel and lubricants. The Permian Basin unit is also the first within ExxonMobil to implement a plan aimed at achieving net-zero Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions in operated assets by 2030, aligning with the Corporation's broader goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.

Approximately 800 employees of ExxonMobil's Unconventional business line reside in Midland, Odessa, Carlsbad, and surrounding areas, all of which provide easy access to national parks and exceptional outdoor recreational activities. Your Role in Our Team
  • Production Monitoring: Supervise the flow of oil and gas from wells to ensure optimal production levels.
  • Routine Maintenance: Perform regular inspections and maintenance on production equipment to prevent breakdowns.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve equipment issues, or collaborate with specialists for complex repairs.
  • Data Recording: Maintain precise records of production metrics and report daily activities.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow safety regulations and protocols to uphold a secure working environment.
Your Responsibilities
  • Safety Assurance: Adhere to safety standards and protocols to maintain a secure workplace.
  • Production Oversight: Monitor the flow of oil and gas from wells to ensure optimal production levels.
  • Maintenance Tasks: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on production equipment to prevent malfunctions.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify and rectify equipment problems, or coordinate with specialists for complex repairs.
  • Data Management: Keep accurate records of production metrics and report daily activities.
  • Production Optimization: Implement strategies to enhance production efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Equipment Inspection: Regularly assess equipment for wear and ensure all components are functioning correctly.
  • Inventory Management: Track necessary supplies and equipment, ensuring availability when needed.
  • Issue Reporting: Communicate significant issues or anomalies to supervisors and relevant personnel.
  • Repair Coordination: Collaborate with external contractors or specialists for major repairs and maintenance.
  • Data Analysis: Review production data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Site Cleanliness: Ensure the well site and equipment are maintained in a clean and organized manner.
  • Safety Drills: Participate in and occasionally lead safety drills and training sessions.
  • Log Updates: Maintain detailed logs of all maintenance and repair activities.
About You

Qualifications and Skills
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience: Prior experience in oil field operations and a solid understanding of production equipment and maintenance is preferred.
  • Licenses: A valid driver's license is required. Some states may also require operators to be licensed or certified.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Technical Proficiency: Basic knowledge of oil and gas production equipment, along with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Driving Record: Must maintain a clean driving record.
  • Drug Testing: May be subject to random drug testing.
  • Team Collaboration: Must be a team player.
  • Physical Endurance: Capable of vigorous outdoor activities and manual dexterity, with the ability to work extended hours, climb, bend, kneel, squat, and work in confined spaces under various weather conditions.
