About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Vice President of New Business to lead the creation of new, standalone products at CNN. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for establishing a new team focused on developing separate, non-news experiences that enrich our users' lives and drive subscription growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute comprehensive new product and business strategies aligned with our strategic goals, driving engagement and revenue.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including commercial, editorial, technical, and marketing, to ensure cohesive strategy and execution.
  • Oversee the development of a human-centered design process to create a portfolio of standalone products that leverage CNN's strengths and opportunities.
  • Partner with editorial partners and talent to meet user needs and engage users deeply with our new products.
  • Recruit, develop, and manage a strong team that thinks ambitiously and creatively.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on progress, challenges, and strategic plans for new and existing business lines.
  • Monetize products through multiple revenue streams, with a focus on subscriptions.
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships that enhance CNN's business capabilities and market position.
  • Act as a clear operational partner for M&A opportunities, including outside products in our portfolio.
  • Work closely with strategy and finance to ensure business initiatives are financially viable and align with overall revenue goals.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience leading the creation of new products, with a proven track record of success.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with editorial counterparts on meeting user needs with a combination of content and product features.
  • Experience creating 0-1 products that delight users and have turned into habituating experiences.
  • Proven track record in developing and launching successful businesses, with a deep understanding of the media industry.
  • Experience creating and executing a holistic product strategy that is ambitious and creative, and ties into business goals.
  • 7+ years of experience in people management, with an inclusive mindset and ability to coach and motivate teams.
  • Aggressive about goals and able to drive growth and deliver results on time.
  • Stays up to date on the digital and technological landscape to understand competitors' tactics and market trends.
