Job Summary

The University of Nevada is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated University Police Officer I to provide law enforcement services to the university community, ensuring a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Protect university employees, students, and the general public by patrolling and safeguarding university properties and surrounding areas.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into traffic incidents and criminal and non-criminal activities.
  • Prepare for security and law enforcement activities surrounding special events, ensuring the safety of all attendees.
  • Perform routine maintenance on assigned equipment and special assignments related to law enforcement and peace officer functions.
  • Maintain law and order, responding to emergency situations and providing support to the community.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience in public contact work, preferably in a law enforcement or security role.
  • Pursuant to NRS, positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
  • A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
  • Applicants may be subjected to psychological testing, which may include polygraph testing.
  • Applicants must meet minimum standards for appointment as a peace officer as established in the Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code.
