Position Overview
This role represents a pivotal technical leadership opportunity within GE Healthcare's Patient Care Solutions (PCS) and various interoperability standards organizations. The architect will leverage their extensive expertise in networking, medical device data protocols, technology frameworks, and engineering design principles to spearhead the creation and enhancement of interoperability solutions. They will ensure that data models align with international standards while also shaping the evolution of interoperability standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the evolution of data protocol design for Patient Care Solutions across multiple generations of platform and product software releases.
  • Guarantee that both new and existing interoperability roadmaps effectively support the technology strategies and business objectives of Patient Care Solutions.
  • Lead councils and review boards focused on data governance.
  • Act as a representative for interoperability and software technology initiatives across various business segments within PCS.
  • Engage in and provide final approvals for Technical Design Reviews related to interoperability for all pertinent New Product Introductions.
  • Encourage and ensure PCS's participation in third-party hosted connect-a-thons.
  • Actively participate in relevant industry, scientific, and standards organizations, advocating for PCS interests.
  • Provide technical guidance to the global platform engineering team at PCS.
  • Maintain a keen awareness of customer requirements.
  • Define and secure business consensus for interoperability solutions through global technology planning sessions, financial discussions, and marketing processes.
  • Analyze, design, and develop a cohesive architecture roadmap, design patterns, and implementation plans based on current versus future states.
  • Lead research and evaluation of emerging interoperability technologies, industry trends, and market dynamics to support project development and operational activities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive engineering experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in developing applications that facilitate communication between disparate systems.
  • Strong proficiency in developing XML schemas and applications that involve data transformation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for effectively presenting, discussing, and documenting technical information.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical device quality management systems.
  • Proven ability to influence product leadership and direction through actionable recommendations based on technology strategy and risk management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within and across diverse teams.
Desired Attributes
  • Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • 11+ years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and domain knowledge in interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM, IEEE).
  • Previous involvement with standards organizations such as IEEE, IHE, and other communication-related groups.
  • Proven capability to influence, drive change, gain support for initiatives, mentor technical talent, and collaborate with global teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of contemporary network communication protocols, including streaming protocols, messaging services, and publish-subscribe techniques.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive change across product segments.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and decisive.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Patient Care Solutions products and platforms.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid manner across various locations.
  • Exhibits clear thinking and strong decision-making skills: proactively generates results, utilizes data and other inputs for decision-making, takes ownership of decisions, and demonstrates accountability through strong organizational and analytical skills.
