RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Instructs designated classes at assigned locations and times.

2. Develops a tailored curriculum that addresses the unique needs, interests, and abilities of each student.

3. Establishes a learning environment that fosters engagement and is suitable for the developmental stages of the students.

4. Directs the educational process to achieve established curriculum objectives, clearly communicating goals for all lessons, units, and projects.

5. Prepares adequately for assigned classes, providing written evidence of preparation when requested by the supervisor as stipulated in the teaching contract.

6. Utilizes a range of teaching methods and educational resources, considering the physical constraints of the location and the needs of the students.

7. Actively works to implement the district's educational philosophy, instructional goals, and performance standards through teaching practices.

8. Regularly evaluates student progress, providing necessary reports and maintaining communication with parents as needed.

9. Keeps accurate and complete records as mandated by law, district policy, and administrative guidelines.

10. Identifies learning challenges faced by students, seeking assistance from district specialists when necessary.

11. Ensures the safety of students, equipment, materials, and facilities through reasonable precautions.

12. Adheres to the district's code of conduct for classrooms, establishing fair and just rules of behavior.

13. Plans and oversees the work of paraprofessionals, providing written evaluations as required.

14. Engages in ongoing professional development that meets district requirements and personal professional goals.

15. Participates actively in the teacher evaluation process, contributing to a mutual understanding of evaluation outcomes.

16. Attends meetings at the building and district level to foster communication and collaborative decision-making among staff.

17. Participates in school-sponsored events and activities as agreed upon with the administration.

18. Contributes to district and building decisions regarding budget, facilities, curriculum, and overall well-being.

19. Strives to enhance and maintain professional competence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be highly qualified with the necessary expertise in the subject area; and

2. Possess the appropriate educator license for teaching students with moderate disabilities and relevant grade level licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education; and

3. Hold a Bachelor's Degree with the required license; or

4. A Master's Degree with the appropriate content area license is preferred and/or expected within five years.
