Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team at Springfield Public Schools. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with exceptional needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs and abilities of students.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support.
  • Design and deliver engaging and effective instructional strategies that promote academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Conduct regular progress monitoring and assessments to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Appropriate content/program area educator license (Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities) and grade level licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Experience working with students with exceptional needs and their families.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
