Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team at Springfield Public Schools. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with exceptional needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs and abilities of students.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support.
  • Design and deliver engaging and effective instructional strategies that promote academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, making data-driven decisions to inform instruction and drive student outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education, incorporating research-based strategies and technologies to enhance student learning.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) certification in Special Education (Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities).
  • Experience working with students with exceptional needs, preferably in a public school setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, with a focus on student-centered instruction.
