Job Overview

Hotel Equities, a distinguished hotel development and management firm, is seeking an exceptional Operations Manager for the Sheraton Northbrook Hotel.

Role Objective:

Oversee and coordinate various hotel functions (Front Office, Housekeeping, Laundry, and Food & Beverage) to ensure guest, employee, corporate, and owner satisfaction while achieving financial targets. This position is accountable for both strategic and operational planning in these areas. The role includes developing and recommending budgets, marketing strategies, and objectives, while managing operations in alignment with these approved plans.   • Lead Human Resources initiatives to attract, retain, and motivate staff; responsibilities include hiring, training, developing, empowering, coaching, conducting performance reviews, and addressing employee issues.
  • Formulate, propose, implement, and oversee the annual budget, business/marketing plan, forecasts, and objectives to meet or exceed management expectations.
  • Execute company programs (corporate/franchise), create local initiatives and procedures, and manage operations to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, safety regulations, and all applicable laws to maintain high service quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Address customer complaints effectively to uphold a high standard of guest satisfaction and service quality.
  • Adhere to emergency protocols and train departmental staff to ensure the safety of guests, employees, and company assets.
  • Promote accident prevention strategies to minimize liabilities and associated costs.
  • Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of both front and back of house areas to protect assets, comply with regulations, and ensure quality service and customer satisfaction.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the General Manager during their absence.

Qualifications and Skills:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience with major hotel brands such as Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or Hyatt is preferred.

This role requires the following abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of hospitality and business management.
  • Strong understanding of various operational areas and the ability to integrate and communicate that information effectively.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex information to enhance existing practices or create new strategies.
  • Decision-making skills guided by general policies and procedures, keeping the General Manager informed of overall direction.
  • Excellent communication skills to lead staff and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills for interaction with managers, guests, and staff.
  • Strong literacy skills for report writing, policy documentation, and procedural guidelines.
  • Visual acuity for inspecting hotel facilities.
  • Physical mobility to navigate through all areas of the hotel.
