Job Title: Resident Support Specialist - Shelter Operations

Columbus House is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Resident Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our shelter operations team, you will play a critical role in providing support and supervision to our residents, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and support residents in a residential setting, promoting a culture of safety, trust, and empowerment.
  • Network with local shelters and social service providers to ensure seamless referrals and support services.
  • Collaborate with Columbus House staff to provide comprehensive support services, including mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis support.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to enhance services and resources for residents.
  • Ensure compliance with all house rules and regulations, maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in social work or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with homeless populations, preferably in a residential setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis issues, as well as crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
