Position Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will leverage your technical skills to enhance the performance and dependability of a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects, including wind and solar installations. Your role will involve providing engineering expertise related to mechanical systems such as drivetrain assemblies, wind turbine blades, hydraulic mechanisms, generators, towers, foundations, fasteners, and solar tracking systems. You will be adaptable to site-specific requirements, addressing various challenges with a focus on continuous improvement while collaborating with site teams and managing projects aimed at optimizing operational efficiency.
  • Act as the primary engineering resource to enhance asset uptime and resolve operational challenges, ensuring key performance indicators for equipment reliability and availability are met through the application of engineering principles and operational insights.
  • Evaluate damage to critical components, classify severity levels, and offer repair or troubleshooting recommendations to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Monitor mechanical performance by analyzing inspection results, monitoring systems, and data from Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Provide prompt and effective follow-up actions based on identified issues, trends, and root cause analyses.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact within and outside the organization, exercising independent judgment on technical matters.
  • Act as a mechanical consultant to internal teams, validating recommendations from OEMs, third-party Independent Engineers (IEs), and service providers.
  • Negotiate critical technical issues with senior engineers and executives from other organizations.
  • Support multiple renewable energy sites across North America.
  • Make impactful decisions and recommendations that influence extensive engineering and operational activities.
  • Utilize proven Root Cause Analysis methodologies to identify and mitigate equipment faults and failures.
  • Oversee subcontractors during maintenance activities as necessary.
  • Assess and implement mechanical enhancement and pilot initiatives.
  • Develop business cases, economic justifications, and project budgets.
  • Manage the implementation process, including developing Requests for Quotes (RFQs), evaluating bids, awarding contracts, and overseeing field operations.
  • Define project scope, schedule, and conduct End of Warranty inspections for major components, filing necessary claims with OEMs.
  • Engage in site safety and environmental management systems, ensuring safety and environmental considerations are integrated into all operations.
  • Maintain accurate and high-quality mechanical engineering and repair documentation across the North American fleet.
  • Design and deliver training, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Communicate technical information and findings to site personnel, management, and executives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in the field.
  • Experience in the Renewable Energy sector.
  • Proficient in conducting root cause analyses.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices, including IEC, DNV/GL, ASME, ASTM, and ACMA.
  • Knowledge of mechanical operations and maintenance across various manufacturers.
  • Experience in developing engineering tools using programming languages such as Matlab, Python, or SQL.
  • Exhibit creativity, foresight, and sound judgment in managing extensive engineering programs.
  • Demonstrate strong planning, scheduling, and project management capabilities.
  • Possess advanced computer and analytical skills, including proficiency in MS Office products like Excel and PowerBI.
Additional Information
  • This position supports a hybrid work environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 20% of the time, including overnight trips.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Compliance with company policies regarding health and safety is essential.
  • The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, with potential exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to climb ladders and work at heights exceeding 250 feet.
  • Ability to hear and respond to audible alarms and changes in equipment noise levels.
  • Some lifting may be required.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $74,500 - $114,195 USD annually.

This range reflects the average expected pay for qualified candidates. Actual salary may vary based on various factors, including experience and education.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus and incentive plan.
