COACh - Creating Opportunities for Autistic Children

The COACh program caters to students aged Pre-K through Gr. 12+ who have a multidisciplinary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our classrooms are designed to be highly structured and well-staffed, ensuring a consistent and systematic approach to teaching. Continuous support from behavior specialists, along with professional development opportunities, is provided to classroom educators.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred
  • Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license in Severe, All Levels or Moderate Disabilities 5-12
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Additional content area licensure is encouraged
  • Knowledge of current educational legislation and regulations
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience in an urban educational setting preferred
  • Understanding of institutional and structural racism and its impact on underserved communities

Responsibilities and Skills

  • Deliver diagnostic, prescriptive, and evaluative services for identified students.
  • Design and implement standards-based lesson plans and IEP goals.
  • Participate in Benchmark Assessments and ongoing Progress Monitoring.
  • Assess student achievement levels, analyze data, and recommend actions for improvement.
  • Provide small group instruction tailored to identified students.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Employ various instructional strategies suitable for students with different learning styles.
  • Model effective teaching strategies and ABA techniques.
  • Organize and provide a variety of instructional materials and resources.
  • Utilize time efficiently.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by school administration.
  • Maintain high standards and expectations for all students.

Employment Terms:

  • As negotiated with the Lynn School Committee and Lynn Teachers Union.
  • 180 days per year
