Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Lynn Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and support to students with language-based learning disabilities in grades 9-12.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of students with language-based learning disabilities.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in a language-based learning environment.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Assess and document student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and making data-driven instructional decisions.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education, including language-based learning disabilities, and implement evidence-based instructional strategies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Moderate Disabilities (grades 5-12).
  • SEI (Staff Development in English as a Second Language) endorsement.
  • Experience working with students with language-based learning disabilities preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, with a focus on student needs.
