Interns will engage in practical experiences within the poultry processing sector while developing essential engineering skills that will support a long-term career in the field. Throughout the internship, participants will be tasked with on-the-job responsibilities, complete various assignments, demonstrate their understanding, and cultivate competencies while gaining insight into the operational excellence required across the organization.

Key Responsibilities: include but are not limited to the following:
  • Participate in rotations across different departments to gain practical management experience in the poultry industry and an understanding of integrated operational systems.
  • Execute on-the-job tasks aligned with plant operations.
  • Complete assignments and coordinate daily tasks with department leaders.
  • Understand company specifications for all products and ensure operations are conducted in a safe and quality-focused environment to meet performance objectives.
  • Adhere to directives provided by senior management.
  • Develop and showcase management competencies.
  • Acquire knowledge of poultry operations management.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • This position is safety-sensitive.

Education and Experience:
  • A Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in engineering (Chemical, Industrial, or Mechanical).

Language Proficiency:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus but not required.

Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations in various units of measure, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.

Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to solve practical problems and address a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
  • To perform this job successfully, candidates should possess knowledge of internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word is required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • A valid driver's license is required, and candidates must qualify for the company driver program.

Travel:
  • Moderate travel to external facilities may be necessary.
