Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join ABB as an Associate Mechanical Engineer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating and modifying standard designs of equipment, systems, or installations. Your expertise will be utilized to design engineering solutions, including drawings and calculations according to contract specifications. You will also contribute to design reviews and design verification, modifying the design as necessary. The work model for this role is on-site, and you will be mainly accountable for:
Acting as an independent and reliable contributor with limited supervision, participating in technology development and product development projects, and supporting existing products.
Creating mechanical designs for industrial motors per internal specifications and industry standards from fractional through integral horsepower range, maintaining a special emphasis on AC induction motor design methodology, modeling techniques, and test standards.
Staying abreast of the state-of-the-art designs in the mechanical engineering area, as well as new and evolving technologies, and leveraging expertise in motor design to contribute innovative and creative ideas.
Collaborating with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain on development of product specifications, application assistance, regulatory or certification requirements and processes.
Understanding customer value creation and working to increase customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
This role requires an Engineering Degree with 0-2 years of experience. Preferred previous experience includes technical support for projects in an electrical engineering field, supporting manufacturing locations, computer programming experience, and candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
