This position reports to the Director of Research & Development.
Your Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to create and modify the standard designs of equipment, systems, or installations, including standard specifications for manufacturing, fabrication, or construction, using standard design concepts. Each day, you will design engineering solutions, including drawings and calculations according to contract specifications. You will also showcase your expertise by contributing to design reviews and design verification and modifying the design, as necessary.
The work model for the role is: On-Site. You will be mainly accountable for:
• Acts as an independent and reliable contributor with limited supervision. Participates in technology development and product development projects, and support of existing products.
• Creates mechanical designs for industrial motors per internal specifications and industry standards from fractional through integral horsepower range. Maintains a special emphasis on AC induction motor design methodology, modeling techniques, and test standards.
• Stays abreast of the state-of-the-art designs in the mechanical engineering area, as well as new and evolving technologies. Leverages expertise in motor design to contribute innovative and creative ideas.
• Collaborates with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain on development of product specifications, application assistance, regulatory or certification requirements and processes.
• Understands customer value creation and works to increase customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
Engineering Degree with 0-2 years experience. Preferred Previous Experience Includes: Technical Support for projects in an electrical engineering field, Supporting manufacturing locations, Computer programming experience. Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
