Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Produce Associate Team Leader to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our store operations team, you will be responsible for assisting the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Store Layout and Merchandising: Develop and maintain creative store layouts and product merchandising strategies to drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Sales and Labor Management: Work with the Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets, and assist in analyzing sales reports and labor data.
  • Product Knowledge and Vendor Relations: Demonstrate advanced product knowledge and develop/maintain awareness of new products, while maintaining good vendor relationships and ensuring all paperwork is properly submitted for vendor processing.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel Team Members to sustain a high-performance team and minimize turnover.
  • Customer Service and Experience: Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, direct Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers, and respond promptly to customer needs and questions.
  • Performance Evaluations and Coaching: Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations and coaching to Team Members.
  • Communication and Modeling: Consistently communicate and model Whole Foods Market's vision and goals, and foster a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
Requirements
  • Experience: 18+ months retail Team Member experience and 6+ months of supervisory experience.
  • Skills: High energy, enthusiastic, and displays an affinity for our products, core values, and company philosophy; growth mindset towards greater responsibility and ownership; excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills; capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner; product knowledge; advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures; proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory; demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 pounds; in an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours; hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling; work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
  • Environmental Factors: Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals; exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit; ability to work in a wet and cold environment; ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed; ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
