Clinical Respiratory Specialist / Patient Care Advocate

Our Respiratory Therapists deliver exceptional clinical support, while our Sales Representatives collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate seamless transitions from hospital to home care. This approach enhances patient management, reduces hospital stays, and minimizes re-admission rates, ultimately lowering costs and delivering personalized care directly to patients in their homes.

Position Overview:

This role encompasses a combination of field-based business development, hands-on clinical sales, and in-home respiratory service. The ideal candidate will act as a patient advocate and a positive representative of VieMed. Responsibilities include identifying and initiating discussions with potential referral sources while nurturing existing relationships. Utilizing clinical and sales expertise, you will develop innovative strategies to promote VieMed's disease management program and respiratory products within your designated territory.

The role involves spending a significant portion of time (80% or more) in the field, networking, building relationships, and educating referral sources within hospitals about the benefits of VieMed's disease management program for patients with Chronic Respiratory Failure. Key referral sources include Pulmonologists, Hospitalists, Critical Care Physicians, Case Managers, and Social Workers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote VieMed's disease management program to potential and existing referral sources.
  • Develop action plans and strategies to maintain ongoing business with current accounts while leveraging clinical and consultative selling skills to explore new market opportunities.
  • Conduct educational presentations and in-services for healthcare providers.
  • Manage account activities, sales documentation, reports, and territory oversight.
  • Collaborate with clinical, managerial, and sales teams to market our home respiratory therapy services effectively.
  • Work with office staff to ensure accurate billing and documentation of services, meeting third-party payor guidelines.
  • Be available for patient contact and responsive to patient needs.
  • Achieve or exceed sales quotas consistently.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external referral sources within the assigned territory.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with physicians, staff, patients, and referral sources.
  • Ability to independently plan and execute strategies to meet sales goals.
  • Demonstrated urgency for achieving goals with a strong commitment to results.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and territory management skills.
  • Flexible, self-motivated, and accountable for results while supporting team efforts.
Requirements:
  • Resourceful problem solver thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Established relationships with Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Hospitalist physicians in the local community.
  • Three letters of recommendation from Pulmonologist physicians are required.
  • Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Compliance with VieMed's COVID-19 vaccination policy is mandatory.
Experience:
  • Demonstrated success in healthcare sales, with experience working alongside physicians, nursing management, discharge planners, case managers, and social workers.
  • Minimum of two years of full life cycle healthcare sales experience, including lead generation and follow-up.
  • Preferred experience in LTACH marketing or clinical liaison roles.
  • Previous clinical experience with demonstrated skills in patient assessment is preferred.
  • Formal sales training is a plus.
Licensure and Requirements:
  • Current clinical licensure (RT, RRT, CRT, RCP) is required.
  • A valid Respiratory Therapist license in the practicing state is necessary.
  • Extensive experience in a hospital setting, particularly in ICU/CCU adult ventilator management, is essential.
  • Previous rehabilitation or LTACH experience is preferred.
