About the Army Platforms Department: The mission of the Army Platforms Department (N217) is to deliver top-tier engineering solutions that facilitate the U.S. Army's transition from operational concepts to fielded integrated solutions, ensuring an asymmetric advantage. Our key sponsors include PEO Missiles and Space, PEO Aviation, PEO Ground Combat Systems, and others. We leverage a wide array of technical expertise to tackle the Army's most significant modernization challenges in areas such as Agile software development, cyber resilience, directed energy, digital engineering, autonomous systems, and command and control.

Position Overview: The Army Platform Department is in search of a technically proficient and operationally focused Project Leader for the PEO Missiles and Space initiative. This role involves delivering innovative, high-impact solutions for critical mission challenges while fostering and enhancing sponsor relationships. The current focus of the project includes model-based systems engineering, digital transformation, digital engineering, cybersecurity, and independent assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison to senior sponsors within PEO Missiles and Space.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with senior leaders of PEO MS.
  • Define and spearhead fast-paced, impactful initiatives in systems engineering, concept development, cybersecurity, prototyping, and integration.
  • Lead a diverse MITRE team comprising four staff years.
  • Expand MITRE's support in high-impact areas lacking direct engagement.
  • Facilitate the sponsor's mission through the delivery of clear, impactful technical outputs, briefings, reports, and executive-level recommendations.
  • Collaborate externally with PEO MS and their stakeholders, including various directorates and contractors.
  • Work internally with MITRE Project Leads, Department Managers, and Chief Engineers.
  • Provide thought leadership and actionable recommendations in systems engineering, Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), and cybersecurity strategies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in Mission Engineering, System of Systems Engineering, and Digital Engineering.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering artifacts in SysML or UML.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity strategies.
  • Understanding of Integrated Air and Missile Defense missions.
  • Experience working with the Department of Defense.
  • Ability to communicate concise, actionable recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Active Secret Clearance is required.
  • This position necessitates an onsite presence five days a week.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Army.
  • Knowledge of Army systems and Program Managers, particularly in systems engineering, cybersecurity, and interoperability.
  • Experience in developing Model-Based Systems Engineering artifacts in SysML or UML and leading teams focused on System of Systems Engineering and integration.
  • Familiarity with the AGILE framework.
  • Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain SCI.
