Job Description

The SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting function at Western Digital is responsible for all external financial reporting, including SEC periodic Filings, Quarterly earnings releases, investor relations presentations, 401(k), and financial census reports.

This role serves as an internal consulting function to address complex transactions and issues faced by the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage periodic filings with the SEC, including preparation of financial statements and related notes, MD&A, and other disclosures
  • Prepare financial statements and presentations for quarterly earnings releases and file related Form 8-K
  • Review and tie-out Proxy financial disclosures
  • Manage preparation of financial statements for 401(k) Plan and filing of Form 5500
  • Oversee accounting for company's capital structure (debt and equity)
  • Oversee accounting for equity compensation plans
  • Monitor and research new accounting standards, summarizing and communicating impacts to executives and Audit Committee, and leading process changes where necessary to respond to new requirements
  • Analyze and understand complex transactions, applying complex accounting standards to those transactions, developing solutions to problems and effectively communicating the results to stakeholders
  • Collaborate effectively with internal clients, including General Accounting, IT, Treasury, Strategic Investments, Legal, Internal Audit, Real Estate Operations
  • Liaise with external auditors and company stakeholders to manage effective and efficient audit execution
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and hold a CPA
  • 4+ years of experience with complex accounting including SEC reporting and GAAP
  • Proven success with managing a team of finance professionals through ambiguity while still driving results
  • Prior experience working in Public Accounting (Big 4) is highly preferred
  • Experience with Workiva a strong plus
  • Confident communicator with the level of maturity and presence necessary to influence senior executives and business leaders
