Position: Engineer - Strategic Space Mission Integration

At AdAstra, we are at the forefront of integrating advanced technologies into tactical operations. Our innovative toolchain has successfully linked aircraft into cohesive mission capabilities at unprecedented speeds, with applications spanning distributed target tracking, long-range engagements, and synchronized electronic warfare. Building on this momentum, we are expanding our efforts to incorporate proliferated Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites into our mission frameworks.

We are seeking talented Software, Research, or Experimentation Engineers to play a pivotal role in merging tactical space assets with multi-domain operational capabilities. Key focus areas include:

  • Coordinating sensor observations and data dissemination across various domains.
  • Developing dynamic networking solutions that accommodate the continuous movement of satellites and aircraft while addressing the challenges posed by both legacy and modern networking systems.
  • Creating user-friendly interfaces that empower operators to efficiently manage numerous platforms.

This role offers opportunities for travel to support demonstrations and testing with relevant operational hardware.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop capabilities for synchronized effects between tactical satellites and other operational domains.
  • Depending on your expertise and interests, responsibilities may include algorithm design, software development, integration with relevant hardware, or a combination of these areas.
  • Validate capabilities through simulations and real-world testing with military-relevant satellites and aircraft.
  • Demonstrate the applicability of solutions across a diverse range of missions and identify areas for future enhancement.
  • Create comprehensive documentation and testing frameworks to assist military personnel and partner contractors in utilizing our solutions.
  • Design and implement robust interfaces that facilitate the management and control of multiple platforms.
  • Ensure the development of dynamic networking systems that can adapt to the ongoing movement of satellites and aircraft, integrating both legacy and modern technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to guarantee the seamless integration and operational functionality of developed capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience in developing capabilities deployed on operational hardware.
  • Background in space capabilities or related fields, demonstrating an ability to think across various domains.
  • Strong technical expertise in relevant areas, including:
    • For software roles, proficiency in programming languages such as C++ or Java, with experience in efficient algorithm implementation and software deployment on hardware.
    • For algorithm-focused roles, familiarity with relevant phenomenology (sensors, networking, etc.) and a proven track record of deploying algorithms to solve real-world challenges.
  • Ability to adapt and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and the capability to troubleshoot complex system issues in real-time.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance; an existing clearance is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a defense or military setting, with an understanding of DoD requirements and constraints.
  • Experience with dynamic networking solutions, particularly for mobile and constantly moving platforms.
Benefits:

AdAstra offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays. We are conveniently located near major transportation options, providing easy access for our employees.
