Position Summary

Qwaltec is seeking a Lead Space Operations Engineer to contribute to the success of our mission operations team. This role involves supporting complex space missions through innovative engineering solutions and operational strategies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing operational strategies for mission execution.
  • Providing support for simulation and testing of spacecraft systems.
  • Creating detailed position descriptions and communication frameworks for mission operations teams.
  • Enhancing visualization and situational awareness tools for mission control.
  • Formulating operational concepts for multi-source command integration.
  • Overseeing the development and testing of operational products, including command loads and telemetry displays.
  • Facilitating end-to-end testing and mission readiness evaluations.
  • Contributing to the staffing and operational procedures of the Flight Operations Team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of nine (9) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Mission Planning Software (MPS) and STK Scheduler, preferably within a NASA context.
  • Proficiency in developing operational concepts and procedures.
  • Strong adaptability to changing priorities and circumstances.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in requirements development, verification, and testing.
  • Familiarity with telemetry and commanding processes.
  • Prior experience in mission operations is advantageous.
  • Experience in managing teams of operations engineers and overseeing shift work.
