Job Overview

Frank Winston Crum Insurance is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Lines Underwriting Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional service to our clients and agents.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct thorough risk assessments and determine pricing and risk selection within your authority.
  2. Process accurate work items received from agents, customers, and service providers, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  3. Order inspections and reports, and send out recommendation letters to clients and agents.
  4. Issue notices such as Nonrenewal, Cancellation, and Reinstatements as required.
  5. Follow up with agents for outstanding requirements and ensure seamless communication.
  6. Research and review databases, reports, policy information, and other online sources to perform required tasks.
  7. Process and service new and renewal business within your authority level.
  8. Process change requests for coverage modifications, updates to policy, and cancellations within your authority level and as instructed.
  9. Participate in project work, including research, policy clean-up, and project quality review.
  10. Assist with agency and customer communications via email and other approved methods of communication.
  11. Update policies as approved by Underwriting.
  12. Stay abreast of changing department procedures and processes.
  13. Use current systems effectively and follow set procedures.
  14. Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, document management, and file maintenance as directed by your supervisor.
  15. Maintain department quality standards by assisting your team to achieve service/quality levels and targets.
  16. Ensure timely and accurate data entry of policy files.
  17. Monitor your email box for communications from agents and customers.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a minimum of one year's prior experience in commercial insurance, including agency and/or underwriting, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of commercial casualty underwriting practices is preferred.
