ABOUT THE POSITION


The Accounting Manager is primarily accountable for overseeing the financial closing process and managing cost accounting and inventory accounting functions for the organization, alongside general reconciliations, accruals, and other necessary accounting entries.

This role involves compiling and analyzing data to ascertain the costs associated with business activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, and serving as the main support during the annual financial audit process.

This collaborative position reports to the Controller and works closely with members of the accounting, sales, and operations teams.


The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of cost accounting principles and will act as a cross-functional partner in operations, sales, and finance.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will bring the enthusiasm and drive to thrive in a dynamic post-startup environment.

ABOUT YOU
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and GAAP, including accruals, standard costs, BOMs, and finance leases.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Advanced Excel capabilities.
Experience with ERP systems such as IFS or Oracle is preferred.
SQL knowledge is a plus.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience as an accounting manager.
Experience in accounting and business analysis, preferably within a manufacturing or food processing context.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Oversee the financial closing process, including reporting, variance analysis, reconciliations, and journal entry support, ensuring all deadlines are met.

Supervise team members responsible for accounts payable and receivable cash application and transaction processing.

Establish and analyze standard costs, reviewing the standard cost roll-ups for new products and production operations; investigate and resolve material variances before finalizing rolling standards.

Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs), including labor hours, through close collaboration with Operations and R&D.

Provide management with various reports and forward-thinking insights regarding unit economics.

Act as the key owner and storyteller of manufacturing, material, labor, and overhead variances, as well as manufacturing yields.

Monitor and update all manufacturing-related general ledgers, including posting, journal entry research, reconciliations, and supporting schedule monitoring as necessary.

Assist with physical inventory counts as needed.

Support budget and forecasting processes, including calculating labor and overhead rates.

Conduct ad hoc product/plant cost analysis to assist operations.

Continuously enhance and implement accounting policies and procedures under the direction of the Controller.

Prepare audit schedules for external auditors and serve as a liaison between the organization and the auditors.

Assist with tax filings.

Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Pay Range - $120,000 - $150,000 depending upon experience and location.
