Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled stress engineer and FEA expert proficient in ANSYS software packages. This position offers remote work flexibility. Rand Simulation, a division of Rand Worldwide, stands as a premier provider of ANSYS CAE solutions and engineering simulation consulting services. Recently, we have established ourselves as a strategic North American channel partner for ANSYS, enhancing our collaborative consulting services across CFD, FEA, and Electromagnetic analysis to deliver maximum customer value.

Key Responsibilities:

The Rand Simulation business model emphasizes a collaborative approach, merging the structural analysis expertise of our FEA specialists with the design knowledge of our clients. Whether in a consulting or software sales/support role, our aim is to function as an extension of our client's team, empowering them with impactful performance insights through simulation to facilitate informed design decisions.

  • Collaborating with clients to leverage FEA insights for enhancing product structural response and suitability.
  • Leading specific projects, responsible for executing simulations for clients.
  • Documenting and contextualizing simulation outcomes for clients, delivering detailed analysis reports, and recommending design modifications based on simulation insights and design expertise.
  • Keeping abreast of ANSYS platforms and enhancing personal knowledge of ANSYS tools through training and self-directed learning.
  • Engaging with Rand Simulation sales and business development teams regarding ANSYS software and simulation consulting opportunities to ensure application suitability prior to the validation phase of the sales process.
  • Leading technical discussions during calls and presentations with prospects on qualified ANSYS software and consulting sales opportunities, providing technical guidance, credibility, and subject matter expertise while outlining workflows and implementation strategies.
  • Occasionally conducting classroom training, mentoring, account follow-up, and technical support to assist clients in adopting and realizing ROI from their ANSYS technology investments.
  • Facilitating consulting design review meetings to provide guidance on critical design decisions.
  • Developing and implementing customized training programs for clients utilizing ANSYS FEA solutions.
Compensation:
  • Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000
  • OTE: $115,000 - $125,000
Qualifications:
  • M.S./B.S./B.A. in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in mechanical or structural engineering/design.
  • 4+ years of FEA/structural analysis experience with ANSYS Mechanical.
  • Experience with LS-Dyna, Ansys Motion, Adams, or similar Multibody Dynamics is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with nCode or other specialized fatigue codes is a plus.
  • Experience with Altair, FEMAP/NX, MSC/PATRAN, Autodesk Nastran, Simulation Mechanical/Algor, COMSOL, Abaqus, Simulia, or similar software is advantageous.
  • Proven experience with various structural analysis methods (rigid body dynamics, transient analyses, nonlinear static/transient, modal, linear dynamics, etc.).
  • Experience with multiphysics, fatigue, and explicit dynamics is strongly desired.
  • Proficiency in MAPDL and/or Python coding is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of FEA principles such as linear algebra and partial differential equations.
  • Extensive proficiency in 3D CAD systems (Inventor and/or SolidWorks preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conducting webinars and presentations for clients.
  • A logical problem-solving mindset with the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
  • A self-motivated individual with a dynamic personality and strong energy.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently while handling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work directly with clients, articulating findings and design recommendations clearly.
  • Capacity to work independently when necessary, while knowing when to seek assistance.
  • Highly developed learning and analytical skills with direct client-facing experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
