About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Engineering Professional to join our team at Burns & McDonnell. As an Assistant Design Engineer, you will play a key role in assisting project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist project teams in creating detailed structural analysis, design, and calculations for a variety of structural systems and materials.
  • Design new industrial and manufacturing facilities, equipment foundations, and utility supports.
  • Provide construction support by answering construction questions, reviewing contractor submittals, and performing field site visits.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge in standard structural engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including structural analysis programs, AutoCAD, and BIM.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification preferred.
Compensation and Benefits

The expected compensation range for this position is $70,000.00 annually. Our extensive benefits package takes care of you so that you can focus on doing great work. From insurance and disability to time off and wellness programs, we provide the tools to meet your needs.
