Academy Training Instructor

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) is seeking a highly skilled Academy Training Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our emergency management team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training courses to emergency management professionals and cadets.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver training courses on emergency management operations, mitigation, recovery, preparedness, and response.
- Design and evaluate training exercises and materials to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
- Provide instruction and guidance to emergency management professionals and cadets on adult learning theories and learning styles.
- Maintain subject matter expertise on emergency management related topics and stay up-to-date on industry developments.
- Administer and maintain training records, reports, and documentation.
- Collaborate with other personnel to develop and maintain training programs and materials.
- Conduct evaluations and assessments of training activities and learning events.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to improve training delivery and effectiveness.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Four years of experience in emergency management operations or a related field, including one year of adult education and/or training.
- Knowledge of adult learning theories and adult learning styles.
- Ability to provide instruction in emergency management operations, mitigation, recovery, preparedness, and response.
- Knowledge of exercise design and/or evaluation.
- Ability to create, revise, and deliver curriculum and instructional material.
- Ability to conduct specific and/or ongoing evaluation for assigned training activities and related learning events.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Experience in designing and providing adult training related to emergency management.
- Certification in any of the following areas: Emergency Management Professional Development Series, Emergency Management Advanced Professional Series, National Emergency Management Basic Academy (NEMBA), COOP Practitioner Level I.
- Emergency Medical Technician Basic Certification.
This is a temporary/casual position established to accommodate a temporary organizational need. As such, TDEM does not guarantee any set number of hours in this role. Temporary/casual positions are ineligible for employee benefits and have a finite term that is subject for renewal each fixed term based upon business needs.
